If in your makeup bag you put a see through zip-lock bag, and in that you put your deodorant and other liquids.
When you get to the security you take the zip-lock bag out of your makeup bag and put it in the tray.
After the security check you can put it back into your makeup bag.

If you do not put them into a zip-lock bag and with that in the tray you run the risk that the security staff will just trow it away.
Of course, you do not need to use your makeup bag, you can also just put it in your carry on bag.
